About the event
The event, hosted by MEP Barry Cowen, will provide an overview of New Zealand’s emissions profile, and the strategy and actions New Zealand is taking across its agriculture sector to meet its emissions targets, including work to standardise the measurement of on-farm emissions and investment to accelerate the development of mitigation tools and technologies to reduce on-farm emissions.
The presentation will be provided by Oliver Hendrickson, Agriculture Counsellor in the New Zealand Permanent Mission to the EU in Brussels. He specializes in issues impacting New Zealand’s global and bilateral trade relationships, including climate change and sustainability. He works with counterparts in the EU Commission, across the EU Member States, and in the OECD and other international organisations. Prior to being appointed Counsellor, Oliver was Director of Forestry and Land Management at the Ministry for Primary Industries in New Zealand and was responsible for regulatory operations of NZ’s Emissions Trading Scheme. He’s also been the chair of various governance programmes focused on the creation and provision of public services to enable sustainable land-use and action on climate change.
